From July 30th to August 1st, the Board of Directors of GDLN Affiliates in Latin America and the Caribbean came together to celebrate the creation of the GDLN Americas Foundation, after registering the organization as a private non-profit in Panama. At the occasion, eight members of the GDLN Americas network signed the Organization’s Founding Act as founding members. The Board meeting included the appointment of a Foundation President and Board officers. Board members discussed upcoming priorities and focused on business planning for the Foundation; different committees also gave progress reports on their work. The birth of the GDLN Americas Foundation presents exciting opportunities for the network in the region and globally, as there will be greater possibilities for engaging donors and partners strategically in activities and fundraising.
Developments regarding business planning and committee work will be presented and discussed at the next GDLN Americas Board meeting, following the annual regional workshop held in Brasilia, Brazil in December 2007.
