Private Sector Development Initiative for Southeastern Europe - 2007-2008

Videoconference Series: December 2007 - May 2008

The Global Development Learning Network (GDLN) Private Sector Development Initiative for Southeast Europe, now in its second year, is intended to promote and facilitate dialogue on a range of reforms intended to strengthen the development of efficient business environments in these countries through a series of video conferences and live events. This year’s program is divided into two parallel components.

SERIES 1: IMPROVING REFORM OF THE BUSINESS ENABLING ENVIRONMENT IN SOUTHEAST EUROPE - Regional Network of Policy Makers

This component seeks to support practitioners and decision makers in their work in reforming business environments to enhance private sector development in the countries of southeast Europe.

SERIES 2: PROMOTING INVESTMENT IN THE WESTERN   BALKANS

As part of its investment generation business, FIAS is implementing the “Invest in the Western Balkans” (IIWB) program, aiming to help generate foreign direct investment (FDI) by increasing investor interest in the investment opportunities available in the Western Balkan region. This component, part of IIWB’s investor outreach activities, aims to enhance the capacity of partner investment promotion agencies (IPAs) in the region.
